It is what it is.

It’s always there, gnawing at you, bouncing around your brain, sometimes non-stop.
It sits on your shoulders like a two-ton heavy thing.

It might go to the back of the line now and then, but it’s never gone for long.

It’s a nagging voice that doesn’t shut up.

Maybe it’s a reality you’ll never be able to escape.
Maybe it’s an old wound that won’t heal.

It could be somebody you let get away.
It might be something you’ll never be able to change.

Sometimes it’s only in your head.
But it can turn into a ball of anger that lives deep in your gut.

It’s part of what makes you who you are, but it’s not who you are.
Whatever it is, it’s always there. Do with it what you will.

It can drive you — if you use it the right way.
It can define you — if you’re not careful.
It can consume you — if you let it.

Face it. Give it a name. Deal with it head on. Fix it if you can. Make it your bitch.

But whatever you do, don’t let it win.
